We started with our top-rated integrated solution for managing a creative services business or workgroup that ran on FileMaker 6 and earlier. Then FileMaker 7 came out and rocked our world. We got trained on how to gradually convert file by file to 7 and started on that path.
But then we went to the FileMaker Developer's Conference in August and got crazy and decided to go for it. In spite of the loads of development time we knew it would require, we bit the bullet and rebuilt Studio Manager from scratch because we wanted to deliver a single file solution. We just couldn't resist the design elegance of a single file. The new Studio Manager 7.0 that we are delivering today is now a streamlined, more robust and powerful version of its former self. We're hoping you'll love it like we do.
Instead of the 28 file product it used to be, Studio Manager 7.0 is now a single file which makes a dramatic difference in file loading, backup, and, most importantly, user access. The feeling you get with a single file is easy, convenient and solid. Even though we tried to simply duplicate the capabilities of Studio Manager in 7, we couldn't resist taking advantage of it's many, many improvements. Studio Manager 7 has an extra report here and there, but mostly it is just a better experience.
Studio Manager 7 is still meant to serve the needs of very small firms as is and to serve as a powerful starter set for larger firms. Small or large, you can customize Studio Manager to suit your preferences and that includes adding or subtracting: fields, layouts and scripts. We say that Studio Manager 7 is 99% customizable. We take you as far as we can without going open source completely (full access comes with the unlimited site license).
As always, when you want to insert your logo, change the font, or change the margins of your invoice, estimate or other forms - no problem. You want to keep some of the layouts you've done on your own - just copy and paste them in. You want to add another FileMaker solution to the mix - not to worry.
Besides your own efforts, you get access to the explosion of new applications and tools based on FileMaker 7 that have been and will continue to be released. If a new application for FileMaker-based email, chat, ftp, asset management or who knows what comes out, you can hook it up to Studio Manager 7 because you'll already be on FileMaker 7 with a very powerful, mission-critical database at your back.
Oh. And the screens are 69% bigger and look better because FileMaker 7 more fully supports the graphic refinements and better font rendering of OS X.
