For some reason, the beautiful little gel like text messages on the iPhone make me want to text more. I'm finally discovering the value and using it much more even though most of my friends don't text much. The interactivity and minimalism is ideal for keeping in touch with my friends and colleagues.
Maybe the iPhone will help get the over 40 set into text messaging. I'm looking forward to it. Everyone won't have iPhones, right? But, the iPhone texting will get more people acquainted with it and get us past the tipping point.
I haven't quite sorted out the pros and cons of texting as opposed to iChat which is rumored to be coming. The advantage of the iChat is that it might be included in the data plan while texting is $10 per month to bump up to 1500 messages compared to the included 200. The 200 free is a brilliant way to introduce and possibly hook new users. AT&T should be thanking Apple for making texting so sexy!
