Beta P800-compatible Symbian OS drivers are now available for the highly-rated, foldable and wireless Pocketop keyboard! All is not lost. Pocketop has the free download. The keyboard is $79.
And, back over at my declared inactive Tokerud's Technology Treats blog, I'm still getting comments on the lack of a keyboard for the Sony Ericsson P800. And for good reason. The phone/pda is one of the leading devices of its kind, were it not for its shortcomings as a writing device.
But, now, one of my commenters, has come forward with information to give us P800ers another option. Marcus Tucker has this to say:
Until a keyboard arrives, I can highly recommend using Personal Jotter 2.0, which makes a HUGE improvement in the speed of writing text. I should add that I'm not affiliated with the software in any way... it's just very handy! :)
Symmetric Dog Productions has recently released Personal Jotter 2.0. My-Symbian.com says:
Personal Jotter is a tool for enhancing input of text on the P800. Over time Personal Jotter will automatically learn your vocabulary and it will suggest completions while you write. This makes Personal Jotter a fast editor for writing e-mail or SMS or other texts. With experience and with a growing database of vocabulary, Personal Jotter can make you significantly faster when writing. The average user rating (with 35 votes) for this software is 9 out of 10. I will be downloading it shortly for $13.95.
Other good signs: I'm seeing new software listed as for P800/P900. This too is encouraging. I have been afraid I would be stuck with a pricey deadend device.
