This is too good a deal and too cool not to mention. Announced today, this new iBook is powered by an 800 mhz G4 for the 12" or 933 mhz and 1 ghz for the 14" versions. I prefer the 12 because it's cheaper, less bulky, weighs a pound less and has the same number of pixels 1024x768 as its bigger brother. This iBook nips at the heels of the 12" Powerbook. Lacking a bit of speed (smaller cache), lesser graphics card. And lacking the ability to do DVI out and power a 2nd monitor. If you have to have that stuff, buy a Powerbook. Otherwise, this is a better deal. The 12" Powerbook needs more to get my extra bucks. Trick this new iBook out with a 60gb hard drive, 640 mb RAM, an Airport Extreme card and built-in Bluetooth for a total of $1473. Excellent value. Running Panther OSX and sporting 2 USB2 ports, Firewire, Bluetooth and a slot-loading combo drive, this little guy looks set to fly off the shelves!
