Had great fun at the Burlingame Apple Store last night. Was 4th in line arriving around 6:15 pm for the 8 o'clock event. Browsed around the store (product research) until about 7. Grabbed a large decaf next door at Peet's Coffee (my favorite) to fortify myself for the wait in line.
Bought an $8 stool to sit on Friday afternoon at Longs. I was quite pleased with myself, sitting on this little stool while in line - very comfortable. And, of course, I was surfing the net while talking with people - showed off my blog - looked at other people's web pages and videos. Generally, great recreation from my point of view.
The new iBook rocks! If I could have bought a custom configuration I would have been going home with a new iBook. The special deal was 10% off everything in the store if you bought either a new Mac at 10% off or Panther at full price. In the end, since I had just bought Panther, I didn't get the discount. Still bought a LaCie 120gb hard drive, Airport Extreme BaseStation (to augment my existing Airport basestation and a car cigarette lighter charger for my Powerbook.
I found out talking with Apple staff that I could bridge the two airport base stations without any additional hardware and put the old one upstairs in my bedroom for midnight surfing and blogging. My favorite time. I could get connected before from upstairs but it was spotty.
I always learn a lot talking with people at these events and the atmosphere is sky high. They promised a gift at the Panther event and it was delivered - dog tags! Why? Why not? I'll be wearing them wherever I go for the next few days. They go good with my cammies. I promise to post about something non-Mac soon. But, I may have a couple slips as I discover fun stuff in Panther. Right now I'm still trying to backup my drive before doing the first install. Happy weekend!
