Now that I've been blogging for 3-1/2 months, I'm seeing how much I get out of it. I wrote about why I blog in early May when I was just starting. That piece was a sort of pep talk. But now it's real. Woo hoo!
- Motivates me to write - the actual and potential audience encourages me to make the effort, and just writing down my thoughts feels good, helps me see what I think, gives me clarity.
- Helps me find my own voice - I give myself permission to be impractical and write on what interests me, not be consistent, etc.
- Gives me a platform to communicate to the world - a form of self-publishing that's never been available before.
- Creates content. I can repurpose my blog writing for publication, presentation or consultation elsewhere. The informality and playfulness of the medium makes it a great incubator for my thoughts. When you comment and link to other sources, you help further my inquiries.
- Builds my personal community starts conversations. The more active readers I get (people who read and then comment), the more conversational it gets.
- Raises my profile in the world - I'm more visible - which means opportunities and interesting people can find me and engage with me more easily.
