Treo 600 beats P800

Treo600-wsj.jpgMy favorite tech toy reviewer, Walt Mossberg, has been carrying this Palm-based cell phone around for a couple weeks now and he says in this week's Wall Street Journal Personal Technology column that it's the best out there. He says it beats all the PC SmartPhones and the rest of the lot. Good solid review.

Wish I hadn't bought this darned Sony-Ericsson P800. I didn't realize when I bought it how much I had counted on the Palm platform that I knew well and for which there's tons of software. Palm-compatibility is a huge difference between these two devices. Major point. I rejected the Treo 600 because I would have to wait 3-4 months and because it has a crumby little 160x160 screen vs. the 208x480 screen of the P800. That's the only way I can feel OK about this whole thing. I keep hoping that there will be a silver lining and more good apps for the P800 - and how about a keyboard? But have gotten pretty resigned that this tool will never reach its potential. I'll wait out my 1 year contract and then all bets are off!
